    Asking for a "raincheck" voucher

My colleague told me the other day that if a special offer item is out of stock, many supermarkets will give you a voucher entitling you to the same deal at a later date.  I never knew that!  There's a full "how to" in the Supermarket Savings guide - (at the end of the page) www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/supermarket-coupons

Yes, I''ve seen those but by the time I got to the checkout I forgot to ask for one!

I have never heard of this but by the time i've done my shopping I can't be bothered to ask for anything as they normally have to call someone else over to ask them.

I thought most special offers are "while stocks last", thus driving a bit of customer demand. Makes better sense surely?

I agree that would make more sense from the retailer's point of view but some of them do have this offer.

We discovered this by accident in Tescos a couple of weeks back.  They were offering donuts at three for £1 when they are normally 60p each, but only had two left!  We jokingly told the girl on the till it was to save us from ourselves and she said we could have a raincheck voucher for the extra donut, which we did!  Brilliant idea!  So we paid £1 for two donuts, and picked the other up free next time we went!  Result!
