Climate change - do you believe?

Apparently today less people believe that global warming is happening (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/8500443.stm)

This annoys me as I reckon that most people who are sceptical are in fact just being lazy and making whatever decision means they have to do less work (whether it be recycling or whatever).

Do we have sceptics here or do we believe it's happening?  And have we changed our food and drink habits because of this?

Why put off today what you can put off tomorrow.....

I think Sean Lock summed climate change up quite well. When discussing his own recycling he says that when he does it he feels like someone who turns up at an earthquake site with a dustpan and brush. Global consumption and waste is so high that it's so discouraging doing the little we can do individually.

I do believe it's happening but I'm sceptical about whether it's all man-made rather than the natural cycle that happens over billions of years.  After all, climate change was recorded long before we had cars and planes.

If it is all down to us I think the biggest culprit is probably population growth as millions more people breathe out carbon dioxide.

I recycle everything I can and buy locally produced food where possible but it does seem a bit like the earthquake and dustpan analogy.

Re: Climate change - do you believe?

I think a lot of what is happening in the world as regards climate is probably part of the natural sequence that would have happened anyway.  Perhaps we humans have pushed it along a small amount, but we will never really know, will we.  As to it changing what we eat and drink, well I do buy foods, as much as possible, that don't come in great quantities of packaging, and I buy locally sourced food as much as possible, more because it is fresher than for any reason of planetary care!

i think that it is a natural that would have happened eventually. Yes  there are things we can do and could have done a lot sooner but no matter what all we would have done was to slow the process down. i just try for minimum packaging and to make sure that food does not go to waste.

Im also a believer that it would happen anyway...... but i think we have definalty nudged it along somewhat. I do like the other on here, recycle where possible, and source local products with minimal packaging, but feel it is almost impossible to reduce our carbon footprint to zero

Re: Climate change - do you believe?

I recycle everything that can be recycled. I believe it is happening but I think a lot of the hype over it is people trying to get us to do our bit to slow it down. My question is "Can it be slowed down?"
